89 Mustang eats clutch cables

How long do they last? I had to put one in mine about 6 years ago. When I noticed the new one was rubbing inside the wrap I took it back off at the pedal then pulled it out of the fire wall to hold it up and slowly pour some oil in (about 2 oz). That worked very well and had lasted about 5 thousand miles. It does need it again right now though.

Depending on how long it takes to break one, this may not help much. Id look at another car if u can and make sure its routed correctly. Also the obvious. U know where it pulls from both ends and make sure its clear of anything that may cause a break over time.

which cable? the long one or the dog bone one on the transmission? If it's the short one, they are known to break all the time. I "fixed" mine by eliminating the dog bone with a nut, bolt and a few washers. makes adjusting the clutch easy
