I dont know why but my a/c smells horrible! When I turn on the max setting the air it is blowing smells like a mixture of exhaust, gas, and some chemical. Over time it has gotten worse and it is cooling less and less little by little. I had it recharged 2 summers ago. Any idea wjat it might be/ways to fix it. Thanks!

if you take it to a reputable shop or a ford dealer they'll evacuate the system and then pull a vacuum to check for leaks

Also, funky A/C smell can be caused by mold/mildew that forms on the condenser coils. This can be cleaned but I'm not sure how on our cars. I cleaned the one on my truck ... the coil was accessible from the engine compartment relatively easily.
