Me and my best two life-long gearhead friends scored free pit side tickets

A few things about what I saw Friday night

I had never heard of these guys or their cars

When I heard they ran 1/8 mile :notnice:
I kinda snickered but thought its free and might be fun

Well … Let me tell you I was surprised and impressed to say the least :nice:

I saw cars that had the best of everything like carbon fiber parts and all that stuff

A fellow sitting in front of us who was informed about these guys gave us a quick 411

When he said … “NO minimum weight or cubic inch limit”
He got my attention

Every car was like a pro stocker

After the first two cars made a pass … I was blown away :)

3.6 et’s … 209 mph … sub 1 second sixty foots

I wanna tell ya …………
Dem boys are serious and they came into town loaded for bear :Word:

They even had a class of bikes that ran almost as quick as the pro stockers

One pass that was pretty impressive was ……………
Both cars were juiced
One sported 854 ci
The other was 864 ci

Anyway … an interesting way to spend a Friday night :D

The ADRL puts on a good show, has some DEEEEP pocket teams, and is hurting the NHRA in draw. The ADRL is free so it brings out a ton of people and vendors probably love that. Our local track is closing (GIR) and there is talk of a new 1/4 track opening in a year or two...hope it turns out more than just talk...not holding my breath.

The ADRL headquarters is like 1.5 miles from my workplace and would be a shame to not have an ADRL event in their backyard.

Sounds like fun Grady. Im curious why they dont have a class for quarter mile though? Texas Motorplex was where I went to my first NHRA race with my pops back in 1997. I have great memories there.

As I said in the above post, a fellow sitting in front of us knew a good bit
about these boys

I asked why they run 1/8 mile and he said he did not know

But I can say this ... Watching these guys run 1/8 mile is NOTHING
like other 1/8 mile racing I have seen :Word:

It is a blast watching this 1/8 mile program. I think part of it is not only more track options to run. Also most stands don't go up to the 1/4 mark and the 1/8 puts the crowd closer to the finish to see easier. The field also moves fairly quick compared to the 1/4 NHRA program

I dont know for sure why its 1/8 but it is a LOT of fun and you forget about it within 5min of sitting down.
