2005 GT with seat side air bags.

What happens if you pull the seat? Dash warning light? Or worse? Or nothing?
Can it be “programmed out”?
I’d like to modify my GT leather seats for some more side bolster,, but with the air bags, no place will touch them, not even to recover, not to mention modify the seat configuration. So, I could just remove and replace with an aftermarket… But the recent recall deal with 2005 air bag issue reminded me, there is an ECM associated to the air bags.. Remove the seats will signal a fault for sure..

Thoughts on if or how aftermarket seats could be installed.

I recently test drove a 350Z that had aftermarket racing seats and it was tripping the airbag. The light for the airbag and the check engine light were on and the car didn't have side bags. Most new cars are seat/weight sensitive if you modify one or the other you'll probably throw the system off and cause it to malfunction.

you will have a yellow airbag light unless you get the terminator from the cabling on your stock seat (the inside of seat wiring) and hook it up. I think an S197 owner posted inormation one of the forums.
