Alignment Question

I was going to get a alignment before getting new tires. I read somewhere that there was a different set up then stock that people where using. Its supposed to make the front tires last longer than the stock setting. Does anybody know anything about this ?

the cars are set up to have slightly negative camber and something like 1.5 degrees caster...just from what I see..if that helps people.
