Alternator problem

I'm taking the alternator off my '95 and i got to the main wire with the bolt. The bolt just keeps spinning and the gold piece under where the wire bolts down is spinning and won't let me unbolt. Any suggestions? I tried using a wrench and a pair of needle noses to keep it from spinning so I can take it off but no luck.

Can you use a screw driver under the head of the bolt? If there is enough clearance, you can take a flat blade to pry the stripped bolt up / while you turn the wrench to get the bolt out...

It takes two hands, but it works. Just wear some safety glasses because you don't want to wind up with a screw driver in your eye (I've seen it happen - no joke)

A pair of dykes might hold the threaded shank better than needle nose pliers.

I would try to be gentle because it might not be hard to open the case and fix the attaching bolt.

I'd add that the stock 94-95 3G charge cable kinda sucks. If you're pondering replacing it, disconnect the charge cable at the PDC and cut the cable next to the alternator (so you can get the alternator out and work on a bench).

Good luck.
