I went to the ford dealer to buy stock platinum plugs for my 02 GT and the guy at the parts counter said they were $6.00 a plug. Luckly they were sold out. Is this price right? something definately smells fishy.
You can get copper plugs instead for like $1.00/pair, though they have a shorter lifespan. Copper plugs are supposed to be changed every 10k, (ive changed at 20k and saw no signs of wear). Platinum plugs are good for 100k.
thats what they cost for platinum anyway. I wouldnt get them anyway they burn a little colder and the our 4.6s like the copper that a little hotter burn.
Ford's gotta make money on someone else's plugs somehow right???
Go to Autozone and get some Autolite 764PP's. (i beleive that's the correct number) It's the same spark plug since Autolite produces the motorcraft plugs, so it may be cheaper
Get some Autolite's, even the ones with the longer threads are an assload cheaper than that. Even if plat's were "good" for 100k, theres no way id leave them in there that long.
