...and yet another Dash Lights question??

Hey, I just bought an '88 GT and discovered that the dash lights (speedo, tach, heater/ac) are not working. Coincidentally, the speedometer is not working at all?

I've read the archives about checking the fuses and that it is probably the dimmer switch.

Question- What needs to be removed in order to change the dimmer switch?

Also- If the dimmer doesn't fix the problem, will I have to pull the instrument cluster out for any reason?

Any advice is truly appreciated.

Speedo is mechanical - not related to lights at all. There is a good chance you will have to pull the cluster to fix the lighting issue and/or the speed cable. it is no biggie though. Takes 30 mins the first time and 3 the next.

Fuse 13 and the dimmer are likely for the dimmer circuit. Make sure that there are no unused dimmer wires which are grounded (the illumination wire on some stangs, when not used with an aftermarket deck, can manage to find metal and ground).
