Any built motors with the S2 blowers out there?

Any built motors with S2 blowers out there?

I have the following modifications on my 01 S281SC:
    Ported S2 blower
    Ported intake manifold
    2.6 pulley
S4 IC with air diversion kit to cover the gaps inbetween the ic and manifold
    Ported S5 inlet kit
    Densecharger fenderwell intake
    90mm LMAF
    42lbs injectors
    75mm T/B
    SCT tune
    SVT Focus pump
    Bassani O/R X pipe
    FRPP Shorty headers
    TR6 plugs gapped at .36

With just the ported blower and 2.6 pulley I was hitting 9.5 psi by 5.5K rpm's and made 345rwhp/381rwtq before pegging the maf at 5.5 rpm's. Today we just finished adding all the other upgrades and I hit 13.5 psi at 5.2rpm's. Call me crazy...I am not sure why I had so much boost? I expected to lose a couple pounds of boost while porting the manifold, matching the heads and adding the ported inlet kit. Regardless, my question is about building the motor. I have been told by several well recognized Ford tuners that a well tuned motor can handle 425rwhp without a problem. I have not tuned my car for the new additions but can only say it feels super strong. I would say I am under 410rwhp and under 435rwtq.

At *this* level what should I be most concerned about? I have never heard of any problems with the rods bending, streching or breaking. Should I be more worried about a burnt or cracked piston. What are your thoughts...

Are stock blocks can handle that much horsepower but the problem with the saleen blowers is they create an immense amount of heat and at those rpms I bet the blower is not being very efficient. I would not risk it and just get a better blower or a methonal kit or a built block like me :D

The weakest links in the 4.6 are the rods and the pistons. Most of the time the pistons go before the rods. You don't want to detonate!!! The top ring land can not handle it. They usually collapse and pinch the top ring or break off a large area. I would spend the money for a forged internal bottom end, get a good custom tune and.... have fun beating on it all day long.

Thanks for your imput guys. This is good to know. I'm not sure why but I always thought the S2 was too weak to warrant a built motor. It sounds as though I was mistaken.

I have found a couple links where guys have added a smaller pulley and not upgraded the fuel pump and ended up with a burnt/cracked piston. I have yet to find one having issues with the rods but I am sure they are out there...

Does the series II warrant a built block? I'd say ya...I'm one that broke the stock pistons, with a smaller pulley. I did upgrade the pump to a SVT Focus pump. But was running the Saleen Pulley flash. It pinged, It broke. I am now putting in a dssracing forged shortblock. Then I plan on a SCT flash, and if needed dual cobra pumps. Everyone, I have talked to has said the bottom end on the 4.6 is good.

The eaton m90 is a pretty weak blower power wise compared to others but it produces an immense amount of heat for some reason. It is just not efficient as the twin screws especially at higher psi levels. I blew my motor as well with a series I and a pulley. Many Saleen guys have done it. I would not risk it and with the money invested in that blower you probably could of afforded a kb kit.

Upgrade your Intercooler and Heat exhanger, and fuel pump, and have a safe conservative tune.

    Or get a KB
