Just curious why my speed went up. I didn't increase service. I just have the basic comcast internet. I have been consistently testing at that speed for a few weeks now.
Wish my upload was anything like that. My download is fine. I rarely use the bandwidth I get for downloading. But it'd be nice to have a bit more upload.
Comcast has the best internet I have ever experienced. I can tell you verizon's tech support number off the top of my head AND tell you that if you call at 3am, they will tell you they are experiencing a higher that average call load. Comcast, I don't even know the number because I've NEVER had to call it. It has worked flawlessly at high speeds, and when I ended the trial period and my bill went up, I called. They were happy to put me back on the trial period pricing. I recommend comcast internet to anyone in my area that will listen.
I can DEFINITELY tell you that's not everyone's experience. You have people like you who never have any problems, then some who have problems constantly. Depends on the network congestion in your neighborhood, as well as quality of lines. We have Mediacom here. I've had it several times, and it always had problems. My current location, I had to go with it again. Installed the modem, and sure enough, trouble. Barely worked. They came out, I convinced them to put in a new cable from the pole and take off the digital scrambler thing they put on to stop you from getting free digital cable, and it has worked great ever since.
I love when you pop in and talk about Cable tech when you know nothing about it. Of course you heard bad things working in an AT&T call center. If you go sit in a Comcast or Time Warner call center you will hear horrible things about AT&T and Verizon...That's how it works. They probably launched DOCSIS 3.0 in your area, in which case the Performance and Performance PLUS tiers get doubled speeds for free.
When comcast did the docsis 3.0 rollout they upped all the other speed tiers too.. mine went up last year when they offered docsis 3.0 here.. BTW comcast has been excellent for me.. I have had it in 4 different towns here in massachusetts and it's very very very reliable.. I had one outage in 8 years and thats when they were upgrading the lines in my old town and that was only for a few hours. On the other hand one of my friends has charter and lives in a non comcast town and has had nothing but problems.
I love how you pop in and always attack me. All I said is there's plenty of people out there who never have a problem, but there are plenty of people that DO have problems. I have stated before that this is EVERY provider of internet and TV, and not just one specific one. If you're trying to tell me that Comcast DOESN'T have people that have problems, OR that network congestion and line quality DON'T have an affect on service (again, no matter who the provider), you're full of it. If not, then what did I say that was incorrect? Go smoke a pole, Chuckie. Not everything has to be an argument. What's funny, is you remember. I don't remember anything until you show up and bash me. I forget all about it, and I'm sure respond to your other posts with no issue. But the second someone mentions cable, internet, or phone, you're all over it to make sure that everyone knows that Comcast is f**king awesome and I have no clue what I'm talking about because I worked for the competition. FYI, I have nothing against Comcast. I HAD nothing against you. Don't change that.
COMCAST is a crock of poo. It seems as if no one there knows what the F is going on. I can almost guarantee that if you call and ask the same question to 5 different people, you will get 5 different answers. Whats up with not being able to call a store? You have to drive to it to find out if they have what you need. Unfortunately, thats all I can get where I am. Here is my speedtest...mind you, I am on a wireless router....not a cheap one though...
My speedtest was also done through a wireless router. It was a relatively cheap one though. Just a wrt 160n flashed with DD-WRT. My main experience with Verizon being clueless was them making service appointments, then never showing up after I had taken off from work and waited all day for them to show. Not once, not twice, not three times, but four times for the same problem. Their excuse? They stated they checked from the main office and found no problem. BTW, eventually, they found something bad at their office.
Not that I don't disagree with you, but you'll find that with nearly every company. For several reasons. One, is that employees are allowed to make decisions (for the better or worse), and two, training is insufficient. Policies, products, and procedures change constantly. And then you just have the people that aren't paid enough to care. Hell, we made $60k/yr + at the one I worked at. I can't imagine what a $10/hr call center is like!
I have nothing against you bro. Obviously every service provider has issues. It's impossible not to with their respective sizes. But when I read your first post I took (maybe mistakenly) it that you were only bashing Comcast for the same issues that every ISP suffers from. I never attacked you, sorry if you took it that way. My main beef was all the thread was about was he was getting good service and wouldn't you know, you were the first one to pop in and try and degrade the company he is have a good experience with.
Not sure what modem you have but most of them are the same IP.... Type 192.168.100.1 in for the URL. (If this isn't the IP just pull up a command prompt and type ipconfig and see what your default gateway is) Once in there take a few screen shots of the different status pages in there and post them up.
No worries man. It definitely wasn't meant to be provider-specific. Sometimes I type too fast and leave out information.
that test seems to do a better job of ignoring the power boost than this one does this is my results with the basci 12 up 2 down service that is the slow speed tier in Massachusetts
