My wife and I are looking into moving near Dalton and I figured I'd test the waters a bit first. I'm currently at the local Ford dealership, have been for over 11 years and I'd hate to jump ship and move the whole family without any sort of net to land in. Any input is appreciated.

One of the mechanics at Team Ford in Marietta is leaving to open his own shop. Might try there if it's not to far from you.

Actually, I'm not in GA right now. We're considering it though. Is it anywhere near the Dalton area?

Dalton is in the northwest part if the state. I think it would be a pretty far drive to Marietta but I'm not sure how long. I live just below Atlanta so maybe somebody from the northside can chime in.

Yes, any other input would be nice. I was thinking the parts side of it as well vs. the service dept.

Dalton to Team Ford - I would put in the 45 minute commute range. Realistically though it would be more like an hour +.

You could try Prebul Ford in Ringgold,Ga. Not too far north of Dalton. Their number is 706-935-2335. Mike Blevins is the GM. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. Having your foot in the door helps vs. just packing up, selling the house, tossing the kids in the car, and moving if you know what I mean. Better to have some idea vs. being totally blind....

A commute from Dalton to Marietta is about 45 mins without traffic. If you have to work during normal business hours, add about 1 hour to your commute. I-75 is one of the worse stretches of highway during rush hour. If I were you, I would look at Canton, Acworth, Woodstock or Kennesaw area.

You should be able to find a nice house out there for about 100-170K.
