Tony's is a bit of a dive now in Redondo.

Try the Cheesecake Factory on Harbor Drive in Redondo or The Chart House. Also Kincaids. That's if you are stuck in Redondo and want to see the ocean from dinner or lunch. You can't go wrong with those three. You will be able to tour the Redondo Beach pier in about 15 min.
An hour down Pacific Coast Highway is Huntington Beach. The pier there is nicer and have good restaraunts also. Lot's of Surf shop type shopping. You can do both. I would.

Also, San Francisco can really be a day trip if you want to make it that and keep Los Angeles home base. You can get a round trip ticket flight to San Francisco and back to LAX for under $100 dollars US. If you leave on an early 6:30 am flight you will be there in a half hour. Don't bother driving. It's 6 hours up and 6 back driving at 90 MPH. She won't like that.

I would rather stick myself in the eye with a pencil than make a Texas round trip drive from Los Angeles. Just a thought.

Hell, I'd rather poke myself in both eyes than make a round trip drive to anywhere in Texas. :p

Seriously, Edge, if one of your pin points includes San Diego let me know & I can make some dining & entertainment recommendations.

Thanks for the heads up on Tony's dude... looks like the Cheesecake Factory is a winner, I just wanted to book something for our first evening there so we didn't have to stress about where to go.

I'll look in to flights to San Francisco, I'd probably have to factor in car hire while I'm there too though as I want to drive down Lombard Street like in the movies (now THAT right there is the sigh of a sad man!!!) plus i quite fancy the drive accross the Golden Gate and a few of those real steep hills... I dont really fancy a 12 hour round drive though, so flights and a car hire it may be :)

Im not planning the drive to texas, its hella-far... the country is SO much bigger than the UK you loose ALL sense of scale when reading a map. Put it this way, you can drive from one end of England, right down to the other in 9 hours, so basically, if you took england, it would fit, with room to spare in Alabama...

I MUST call the saleen store and try to book a tour for the Thursday too, I know saleenlvr (girl not dude as i got busted for :) ) said just to show up but i figure it cant hurt to call in advance. I was planning to bring the glovebox lid of the car with me and have Steve sign it but it looks like that aint happening... unless i track him down someplace else...

Im not sure San Diego is on the map as yet, it looks quite far south, what's the drive like from LA ?

Depending on where you're staying in the LA area & the prevailing traffic conditions, San Diego is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours away.

San Diego is 2.5 hours by car from Redondo Beach. That is with ZERO traffic and at about 85 mph. Hope that helps.

Rememeber, you are going to have your new bride with you so don't try to pack too much in. Seeing all of the beach in Los Angeles, the O.C. ( Orange County ) and San Francisco is more than enough So. Cal for anyone.

Not that San Diego is not beautiful MDR.
