Anyone familiar with the Pypes Cat Back system?

I am looking to install a Pypes cat back with the violator muffler on my '86 GT, is anyone familiar with this system? I am looking for a good mellow sound. not too loud. Also would a 2 1/2" pipe fit on the stock cats at 2 1/4" without modification, as I am installing this myself?
I was also looking at the Ford Racing cat back system. Any other suggestions that has a reasonable price?
