I just got my down payment, and called USAA to use their free negotiation service. I have had two different stories: One, build the car and have them look for it, Two go to the fleet manager and build the car, then they will call and negotiate. The young lady made it sound like if I paid MSRP for this car, I'd be doing great. There is no way I'm paying that for this car, I'll wait until the hype is over. But of course I'm going to try and buy it now. Any comments or hints would be appreciated. Also has anyone used a buyer service before?

I'm a USAA member as well and have talked to them several times over the course of 3 or 4 months to checkin with them to see how they are doing with negotiations on the new Stangs. Each time that I have talked to them they have stated that the best they can do is typically MSRP. I refuse to pay MSRP as well and am ready to buy as well. I have this entire week off and plan on visiting a couple of dealerships to see what kind of deal I can get. A few months back I talked to a guy at a dealership who said he could get me the stang at the holdback invoice price, which isn't too bad. I'm not sure if he will still work with me or not, heck, if he even remembers me but I'm gonna try this week. As far as USAA goes, I don't think they can do better than MSRP right now.

I did get a insurance quote from them as well and I believe it was 415 every 6 months.

    good luck.

Thanks, that was my feeling as well. I just filled out what I wanted at their website, I'll let you know what happens. Amazing, they were telling me what a great deal they would work...that was before I said I was ready to go.

I recomend just going to different dealers till you find one who will deal. I have 3 within 50 miles. One local, Wichita Falls Texas, 100,000 pop, MSRP no deals, one in Bowie, Tx 50 miles away, pop 5231, $400 off MSRP.
one in Burkburnett Tx, 13 miles away, pop 10000+, 1000 off MSRP. They got my order.
Ive read reports from Dallas/FT Worth mostly over MSRP, bout 225 miles away.
Also Oklahoma City, bout 225 miles away, over MSRP.
Just look around so if oyu can find someone who will deal, or if you cant find a dealer cloe enough wait.

    USAA was useless

I had a call from usaa last night, what a joke. They can't do squat. They told me if I could find a deal below MSRP to grab it. If my job was to deal for cars, I would deal. I would at least call a few dealers and haggle. Shot, I went in with a friend of mine and had the time of my life dealing on his car. From the way these guys acted, they really set me up for a disapointment.
    Thanks for your replys

I used their service, and the best I could do was $500 below MSRP. Considering other stories that I have read in the forums, I figured that I was not going to do any better - so I jumped on it!
