Anyone who has rebuilt thier t-5?

If I buy a new tranny for my GT, I'm going to rebuild my existing one. I've seen people getting $400-$500 for rebuilt T5s on Egay and if a rebuild kit is only $170, then it makes sense to give it a try.

I took a tranny class back when I was studying auto tech about 10 years ago. It's been a long time, but the manual I rebuilt actually worked. The 727 I rebuild worked too, but the super-fsking-complicated 440T4 definitely did NOT. Thank God they didn't have a dyno to test a FWD transmission.

I built my Gforce. I just ordered the gears and did the swap with my old case.
No problems yet. And I have gotten a few good shift even in this winter weather.
Do some research for a manual and read it before deciding.

Get the Ford Service manual for the T-5, I am not talking about Haynes here, they suck. "this pocedure is beyond the scope of the home mechanic, take to a autherised service shop..." or whatever it says and all I can say is THEN WHY THE DID I BUY THIS MANUAL!!! The shop manual will in detail tell you how to do it. You may need some tools.
