lots of info getting tossed around here, need a 3rd person who can back up one of the sides, id find it kinda hard to believe that the rotors are supposed to be really cheap or that hawk makes the pads for the alcon kit because hawk makes cheap pads. but i really dont know much about it, just skeptical. thanks

If you need brake pads for ALCON CALIPERS check out www.porterfield-brakes.com -- They have what you need, from low dust to abrasive pads. They are located in costa mesa, calif. phone# 949-548-4470 If you need ALCON ROTORS JOE at CHICANE SPORT TUNING can get them for approx. $1100.00 a set. I have heard lots of good things about PORTERFIELD!!

That Saleenpower board is full of as many Saleen kooks as Mustangforums.

    OK,

That R-Code guy is correct. That fella Dan is incorrect. Alcon does not make those rotors anymore, it's been a couple of years now and if Joe can get a set they are what Mark said. I do believe Baer now makes a rotor/replacement for the 13" Alcon set up. I still have to chat with Joe about that. One thing is for sure that anyone that has had both ( me ) knows there's a reason why the Saleen/Alcon set up is so expensive to replace because even my grandma can make the Brembo's fade but the Alcons stay and simply don't fade. Joe did have two sets of the Alcon rotors new in the boxes 6 months ago. I regret buying them even at 600 a rotor.

    George.

I have the porterfields, r4s in my Alcons right now and they throw little dust compared to the Alcon pads, are broken in but do not stop as well as the Alcons but little dust so I'm leaving them in until I go back to Willow.
I used to drive for BMW years ago as one of their test drivers so I still have a connection at Brembo. We did a 10 pad comparison in with their 13" kit ( the same as the Saleen/Brembo kit you have ) and the lowest dust pads that stopped as well as the original Brembo pads are the Hawks. I don't remember the part number. Joe at Chicane sold me my last set of Hawks for my 02-340 with the red Brembo's, this was last year and the Hawks threw almost zero dust and the minimal fade was as the same with the Brembo pads.

Do they still sell the hawk pads at Chicane or anywhere else or are the porterfield R4S pads the same as the hawks?

Porterfield makes thier own pads for lots of applications. Anyone that stocks Hawk pads will have the cross reference # for the Brembo calipers ( 13" ). Joe prb has in stock and for a good price, but so many people carry Hawk I figured you could source some there close to you in Georgia.

Ok cool. Any idea what kind of shop or parts store I should give a call too? I'm guessing AutoZone or Pep Boys wouldn't be where to look?

Oh cool. so do I just ask for Hawk pads for a 2000 Cobra R since it uses the same Brembo calipers. I'm guessing they don't list the pads for a 2001+ Saleen with Brembos.
