looking to heard from some one with a 94 or 95 cobra with a kenny bell type of super charger or similar. any problem, not satified, or not worth the money? i have a 95 cobra and was thinking of a kenny bell super chager or one similar. what i mean by similar is a blower like the one on an 03 cobra. i think they call them a roots blower. the ones that sit one the engine itself. not like a vortex or paxton. hope i could find some who has experience with what i'm looking for. thanks
I put a KB 1500 on my 95 cobra about 10,000 miles ago. I love it. It made a tremendous difference in SOTP acceleration. My car is a daily driver and the kb does great in town and on highway. Mods prior to the kb were Pro-M 75 mm MAF, 70 mm TB, BBK CAI, 255 lph in-tank fuel pump, BBK equal length shorties, 2-1/2" h-pipe with cats, 2-1/2" flowmaster force II. The car dyno'd 307 rwhp/350 rwtq. I had to take the AFPR off and re-install the stock FPR due to clearance issues. (The AFPR didn't fit under the kb). I used the kb FMU with the stock 24# injectors. No problems at all. Later found my car had an aftermarket chip, I believe it is a hypertech chip. I added a MSD 6BTM (& capacitor) when I installed the kb. Since those mods I've added AFR 165's, deleted the FMU and added 36# injectors. I had the MAF recalibrated for the new injectors. That's when I found out about the after market chip; it was the only non-stock item on the car when I bought it. We ended up dyno tuning with a custom chip when the hypertech couldn't accept the recalibrated MAF (we calibrated it thinking the EEC was stock). The kb made all the difference in the world.
So does that KBsound like an '03 cobra blower? if so I kind of wish I had thrown one of thosse on instaed.....
I have a KB blower on my 5.0 Cobra and think it is great. There has been zero downside and the added power is awesome. I saw an increase of 100rwhp/100rwtq. I use the car daily in nice weather and have experienced no drivability problems on the street. That is unless you count the lack of traction when you punch it. The car drives like the engine has increased in displacement. It is not twitchy at all, very smooth and usable power. I am very satisfied with the results and would definitely do it again. - Dan
thanks for the replys guys. i hoping by the end of the year i'll be able to to get one. the only thing thats bothering me is i'm doing a trick flow intake maifold. most likely in the next couple of months. and then by the end of the year, keeping my fingers crossed, i'll have to take off my upper intake for the blowzilla. not that taking off the upper intake for a twin screw blower is going to stop me. just wondering if its worth buying it or should i have my stock, cobra, lower intake worked on? any suggestions?
