I usually post in the classic forums but i think you guys have more experience in this area. While this is a little bit different setting than most AODs encounter but the concept is the same. Building an AOD for a weekend/sort of daily driver thatll hold up to rare track use and some street abuse. this car will see alot of highway driving.
Car - 1973 mustang
swapping out a C4 for AOD conversion.
I have heard that AOD are pretty much lazy pigs due to the shifting and various weak points in the tranny. So with the buildup i describe below should the tranny be relaible enough to withstand a 400 hp engine?
'90 AOD
A+ servo
2500 rpm stall
alto powerpack clutches
hardened input shaft
Transgo shift kit ( will this fix the crappy shifting?)
boost valve
any suggestions or opinions on the AOD and what my plan is? I like the idea of O/D but dont want to be rebuilding this thing every 6 months.
