I heard a few reports about Ford showing a profit and auto sales increasing in October. I think it might be just a hair too soon for us to start jumping up and down, but the auto industry might be safe. GM posts first sales gain in nearly two years - Autos- msnbc.com
right now people are seeing that the worst is over, but that the economy is still soft. however we may be in the eye of the hurricane as there are problems coming down the pipeline that the average person doesnt yet see. things like a second round of major problems in the housing market, the possible collapse of the commercial real estate market, higher taxes coming along at the state level, and at the federal level in 2011. couple all that with higher inflation, higher interest rates, and the economy could be right back where it was last year at this time, with unemployment going even higher than it is now. dont get me wrong i still think that the US economy is basically sound, but as i said last year, the wrong moves by the government and things will get worse before they get better. and if you are looking at the dow jones industrial average as a benchmark on how the economy is doing, remember that it has been fudged to make things look better than it really is. very poor performing stocks have been replaced by ones that are doing better right now. even the S&P 500 has had some tinkering done to bolster its numbers.
According to all my friends in the dealerships, sales are a LONG way from normal. They are struggling to make every deal they can, profit or not, and the numbers are still way down. However, most of the people I know are in import stores.
Don't know. The imports fell more than the domestics since the imports were selling more. They have a higher hill to climb to get back to normal.
I didn't know where else to put this: The Associated Press: Govt watchdog criticizes handling of car dealers
No matter what the economy is like, I still say cars are and always be overpriced......too many palms to grease!
Which "Crisis" are you talking about ? It's just started here (the one Obama started against the Gulf States.)
Just bitter. Lets play how many things could we blame Obama for, I guess I know who would win. Not that the president before Obama, had anything to do with this country as it is now. You better take your vitamins before you blame Obama for your virus.
I didn't think this was for real and then... Newsvine - Rush Limbaugh blames Obama, Liberal Media for Apple's bad press on iPhone 4 reception issues. (Yes, really) OMG!!!!!!!!!!
Is he really running out of legitimate things to "****" about, not that he had any in the first place. Too funny.
Chuck Schumer is a joke. A bad one at that. Apple probably didn't contribute enough money to the democrats. It's funny how they are suported by big business, then they turn right around and bight the hand that feeds em. One of these days businesses will learn.
Is that what "Change you can believe in" means? Blame the guy before you over and over again while fixing basically nothing? Is that how you "Fix Washington" as I heard over and over again while he was campaigning? Instead of playing the blame bush card, how about this? What has Obama accomplished that he campaigned about that you are the most impressed with? Closing Gitmo? Repealing the Patriot Act? Getting the troops out of Iraq? Not allowing Lobbyists in his administration? Keeping unemployment under 8%? Not increasing taxes on anyone under 200k a year? Fixing the health care system to provide better care at a better price just like Massachusetts?
As far as Rush and the iPhone. I don't listen to Rush. In fact, have never heard more from him than a few sound clips here and there. That being said, has he lost his mind? It is well established there is a problem if you hold an iPhone in your left hand and bridge the gap. You can duplicate the problem on many other brand cell phones in the market, just not to the level the iPhone 4 fails. This is the reason Apple held a press conference and announced they are giving away free bumpers or cases. If there were nothing wrong, or it were just a software issue, they would not be losing the $1-3 that it costs them a case to give them away with new phone purchases. Ironically, they will cease to give out the bumpers/cases by the end of september, leading me to think that they have figured out a way to fix this problem besides hiding your $600 phone under a case. FWIW, the antenna was designed during 2008, clearly making it, just like every other problem in the world, Bush's fault!
Wow...talk about a misleading headline..... Read the story a bit closer guys... I do listen from time to time to Rush. There is a hell of a lot of Stchick to his show, but the reality is that there are few other places that you can listen to and get a good ideal of the actual STORIES that are hot at the moment.....Regardless of weather you agree with him or not. Strip away the commentary, opinion, bloviating and showmanship, and the show still contains more information about what is happening than anywhere else. I heard his Apple defense section. He in NO WAY blamed the reception problems on anyone, especially not Obama. In fact, he flat out denied there was a problem and blamed the media for over blowing something that was a minor flaw for few. He went on to lampoon Schumer and the Administration for the LETTER that they wrote and used that to segue into a discussion regarding the Administration's desire to attack successful American companies. Right or wrong.....he DID NOT blame the reception problem on Obama.....Hell, the story quoted doesn't even say that....except for the insinuation of the headline.....
I never said I was impressed w/Obama or Bush but, its well known that what a president of the U.S. does now could take effect one to two terms after he leaves office. And I challenge you to give one politician that has completed all of his or her promises. History repeats itself and this president is no different. I said before he was even elected by the democratic party that he wouldn't be able to to do half of what was promised. Thats the name of the game, promise and do half of less what is promised, thats how every president has gotten elected. I don't blame Bush for anything, b/c I had decent years under his guidence of this country, I wouldn't have started an all out war but, thats why I'm not president, one the many reasons. Don't forget the political opposition has a lot to do w/why things move so slowly. Do you think if there was no partisan opposition he still wouldn't do the things he promised. Times change rapidly, things change rapidly, this country changes rapidly, promises are just idle threats at best. The man has to campaign, all campaigns I've heard all lies that haven been proven to be lies yet!
Hey settle down, I guess you don't like smilies. Nothings taken in a ill manner with me. Hope all is well:grouphug:
The only problem with using the partisan politics argument is that until Scott brown came on the scene, it didn't matter WHAT the republicans did. The dems had the power to do whatever they pleased. However, still nothing got done. My dissapointment with Obama is that he did none of his campaign promises, instead focusing on pushing an agenda that the American people as a whole don't want while pandering to the unions and big businesses that donated large money to him like BP. As far as the campaigning, has he stopped yet?
