autozone distributors

Has anyone had problems with autozone distributors? I am on my 3rd one and have an intermittant miss that I cannot figure it out. I have changed cap, plugs, wires, plugs and coil. I was wondering if I would b better off trying a used motorcraft distributor?

Did you swap computers when you went to the 5spd...if you still have the auto version that may be the culprit

I had a chip burned for the computer i never had a problem with it missing until after the stock dizzy went bad and put the autozone rebuilt one in it.

just replace conponents in your old stock dist. , always keep motorcraft parts whenever you can.

I dont even know where the motorcraft one is anymore. Im going to try one more autozone one today and if not ima get a used motorcraft.

From what I've heard, remanufactured dizzies tend to have more problems so I suggest you just get a new stock dizzy.

You probably swapped it out when you got the Autozone one. They take them in as cores. I've been using an Advance one for about 3 years now with no problems. But I think Autozone and Advance use the same remanufacturer.

Try the stealership or any Ford spare parts shop for a new OEM dizzy. I don't know if LRS stock them but you could try. I couldn't find one anywhere in the UAE when my old dizzy needed replacing so I bought the Summit Racing billet aluminium unit instead.

I just have a feeling that its the dizzy. Ive had hell with autozone parts.

I honestly wouldn't get one pulled out of a junkyard. If it's used, it's probably close to going out too.

I dont care if it goes out 6 months down the road i just want to get rid of the miss to sell the car. I bought a new car and need this one gone.
