B&M hammer shifter questions

Okay so for starters the main reasons i bought an automatic are 1) It was only $1000 and the guy took payments. 2) I will have to drive through Austin and Dallas traffic, stop and go.
So my first question is. Can i just put the hammer shifter in "D" or whatever and just cruise it like a normal shifter?
2) Is it REALLY just direct bolt in? sounds too good to be true

yes and yes. bolts right in and the shifter has no bearing on how the transmission works.
