Bellhousing for a T5 on a 289

Hey there people,
I have a 67 coupe with a T5 conversion. I have the stock 289/3 speed bellhousing and I have noticed that it is cracked. I am looking into replacing the bellhousing and was wondering if any T5 BH from a 79-93 5.0 will work with my 289 engine? Should I just look at bellhousings made for the 64-73 289 or look for the newer model bellhousing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes any newer bellhousing will fit. You will also need the "late model" block plate. The difficulty will be with the clutch mechanism. The one you have pivots on the driver side of the input shaft, so you have to move the clutch fork toward to rear of the car to declutch. The late model pivots on the passenger side, so you have to move the clutch fork toward front of the car to declutch. The Z-bar can't do that. You'll have to adapt the late model bell to use the Z-bar and your OE clutch fork.
