Best Cam For High Compression 306

I'd build a stroker and just run those heads with a mild ots cam. With running the stock slush box you're not going to "feel" all of the motors power. When you switch to a manual or build a proper automatic you will.

What rear gear are you running? If stock I highly recommend a 3.55-3.73 gear set. It will give you the best compromise between performance and a descent cruise rpm on the highway. With that gear and an avg 331/347 I'd look for a cam with duration #'s under 230*@.050 with valve lift under .550. You should look at Comp Cams,Lunati,Trick Flow, even an Anderson Motorsport grind. Personally I'd go the custom cam route and check with Ed at FlowTech Inductions.com or Bullet cams(I just had one done for 403$ delivered to my door). But if you want to save 100$ get an ots. All these company's can and will give you a recommendation(some are better at this than the others).
