    Biodiesel tax break backfires
U.S. producers reap federal subsidy while selling most of the fuel overseas

i remember hearing about that a while ago. it's just another case of the government not following up to make sure the taxpayers money is used as intended. much like how our "bailout" money is being used by large banks to buy smaller banks instead of being lent to people.

So my brain isn't firing on all cylinders right now and I might be missing something but according to that last quote, is it saying we produced 446 Million and exported 511 Million? Huh?

looks to me that they could have sold and exported some late 2007 production that hit the books in 2008?

Both instances you cite illustrate the need for regulation and oversight.

I really wish there were no need for regulation and oversight, that people would do the right thing, but you know the saying about pooping in one hand and wishing in the other .

I guess its Country First, after Profit.

Wells Fargo is buying out other banks because Wells Fargo is one of the few large banks that was smart enough not to get TOO involved in the business of subprime/risky lending. This allowed them to "rise from the ashes" and buy up banks that weren't so smart...so a bank that used to be midwest/westcoast only is now nationwide.

Assuming that's what you are talking about (Wells Fargo buying out Wachovia)

Yeah I was referencing someone elses post regarding banks buying out other banks... :)

My internet here at work is slower than 56K I think...I had to wait 5+ minutes just to load the response page after I clicked the "quote" button on your post...you'd think a multi-national multi-billion dollar company could afford decent high speed internet :nonono: I'm going to click "submit reply" and head to campus and see if the post has registered before I log in at the cluster on campus.
