Like the mustangs of old, I was kinda interested in blacking out the hood of my GT. The paint is semi-flat black and is identical in the design of this 69 Mach 1's hood.

I was wondering if anybody else was considering this and already had any leads? With a Shaker Hood scoop I think I would be about done with exterior mods and very happy the classic taste of my car.

Let me know what you guys think. :)

2005RedGT - Absolutely love your car. She is beautiful - nice job. I have a Torch Red as well. Don't have the money yet to modify but you sure have given me some great ideas! Thanks again. :)

Well, they look good but I'd still prefer the original design, the pin stripes too. :)

That Redfire one looks hot! Unfortunatly the black hood brings attention to just how plain that hood is. I'm not one for fake scoops but some gentle contouring would be nice. Still, it does look good.

Red looks great! too bad about the hood man that would twist me.. :bang: I have found that alot of people are rushing the parts out..I really wish they would take the time and do the job right I would much rather wait a bit and get a good product even the dealers are that way my stang didn't even have windshield washer fluid in it when I picked her up.. :( sorry back to the paint I have really thought about the painted look too I'm doing the tail for sure will look at a ton of pics before I do the hood but great job on the site and the car Red!..

By Wednesday I will have final pics of the full car with the new paint, hood, and wet sanding. I am really looking forward to it. I will post new/final pics then.

I do love the red or yellow with a black good. It gives it some character.

I like the blacked out hood look. One of
the main reasons I striped my 05 was the white hood need something, some of the other colors hoods do not look as plain as the performance white ones.
    I say go for it!

I have a ERTL model 69 Mach 1 that Im basically moding my car after. I've been sold on the blacked out hood likw in my first post and Im considering blacking the stock spoiler too. I think Im going to do the rear window louvers from MRT and Im definitely sold on the CDC Shaker. Sexy, sexy. :D

I think that would do it for my exterior mods.

Its funny that you mention blacking out the spoiler as well. I bought my spoiler and without thinking ordered it to match my Mustang(performance white) now I have been thinking what it would have looked like if I would have gotten it black. Especially with the louvers--but I dont know if the rear louvers will blend well with the stock spoiler, they look great with the duck tail thats for sure. Are you going to do the side window louvers as well?
Next month I will be getting the side louvers and I was thinking about getting the black instead of white, but since my spoiler is white I will probably have them painted white.

another option for gloss or flat black

check out the lattest trent in custom and hot rod circles, semi-flat or satin black
I know it not exactly new but paint manufatures have great products now that look great without creating a glare
