holy early as hell thread batman! guess i'm going to have to make my NCAA thread soon? nah, i'm waiting till closer to august, but i'll be making it then, for sure
I'm so ready for the '09 season to start!! April 14th we'll finally find out the dates for the games this season, can't wait!!! Wow, I haven't been on here in forever. School is owning me. Glad the Broncos got rid of the crybaby, but now I can't pull for the Bears anymore (when they're playing a team I don't care for). But I still think Denver shouldn't have hired McDaniels, they needed a defensive-minded coach.. not an offensive guy. Oh well, I could care less about Denver anyways. On a side note: I can't wait to find out when i'm going to New Orleans to watch the Pats ... Taking the gf to the game; she's never been to a live sporting event at a higher level than high school, so that should be interesting
We have an extremely proven and capable defensive coordinator in Mike Nolan. Also, McDaniels was easily the hottest coaching commodity out there and was the reason the Patroit's offense had really taken off since 2005. Spangulo, probably the 2nd most coveted, had comparatively little experience and was far less integral in the Giant's defense. Despite the fact that it cost us Cutler, I like the McDaniels hire. I was a huge Shanahan fan, but after 13 years his coaching style was starting to lose the effectiveness and accountability, and McDaniels is bringing a much needed phase shift to the team. I'm not expecting much for 2009, but I'm more excited for the future than I have been in a long time. Oh, and I'll also mention that McDaniels was the only one we interviewed who was willing to keep Rick Dennison and Bobby Turner, who are some of the best position coaches in the league.
It will be interestinf to see what a year away from the game will do to a star player. We meet up on Monday night!
How about some brief updates? Saints picked up some defensive help...maybe. Pair a decent defense with the #1 offense from last season and I think you will hear some noise. Picked up a DT and let go a DB who seemed to get burned quite often. We'll see how they do in the draft. The Dolphins...I wasn't to pleased at the beginning of last season with some of the moves they made but it looks to be working out. I haven't really heard much from them so far other than they may be courting Jason Taylor again.
Well, where do I start with the Brownies. Went out and picked up a new head coach(Eric Mangini) and owner(George Kokinis). Signed about 5 guys from the jets were new head coach came from , Our #1 TE(Top 5 TE in the league) Winslow, traded to the Bucs. They released WR Joe Jurevicius, WR Donte Stallworth is probably going to jail and ther #1 WR Edwards is probably going to be traded to the G-man(in the works/talks). Oh, did I mention we still have a QB controversy. Can't wait to see how we do this year.
I wouldn't be too upset about losing Winslow and Edwards. You guys might have beat my Broncos had those two not forgotten how to catch a football. Oh, and we'll be happy to take Quinn off your hands. We'll give ya a 3rd and your choice of Simms or Orton.
Yeah, we would of beaten a few other teams if Edwards would of caught the ball You guys almost got Quinn if DaBears didn't step up with an offer. There was a 3 team trade that was in the works. You guys would of got Quinn, Cutler would of went to the Lions and we would of got the Lions 1 and I believe 3 round pick. Oh well I hope we keep Quinn and get rid of Anderson. From what I am hearing Mangini says as of now, unless Quinn come out and "wows" him, Anderson will be starting the 09 season. For whatever reason, Mangini does not feel that Quinn is all what every believes he is. We will see what happens.
