brake caliper shims, necessary? (13" upgrade kit)
hey guys, i finished installing an SSBC 13" upgrade kit on my 98 GT, I went with the 4 piston, polished caliper. I highly recommend the kit (very complete), It looks awesome, and braking is 100% better.
Problem- on my test around the block, I noticed the front pass. side caliper is rubbing the rotor at the top of the caliper. I didn't think I needed to use any shims provided in the kit because the caliper looked center over the rotor... Anyone have any experience or pointers before I go nuts taking everything off again? I'm hoping just using the shims will help, but how do I know how much spacing to keep between the rotor and caliper? The only thing the instructions say is "install shims if necessary"... Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
BTW- I also noticed a lot of brake dust, does this typically go away after break in? Thanks again
