My brake booster is crappin out on me. Everytime i step on the brakes all i hear is this hisssssss sound and the brakes get HARD every once in a while.

Would i have any ill effects from upgrading to a 94/95 Booster right now?
(Stock brakes all around)

How about an answer from a mere mortal?

The stock booster is fine for everything but radical upgrades. The 94-95 booster won't fit without drilling the firewall and hammering the strut tower.

To improve the brake performance due to low vacuum that cams can cause, see Summit ( http://summitracing.com/ ) for a brake vacuum reservoir to hold more vacuum.

To fix you current problem, check the vacuum line and check valve grommet on the brake booster. If they are good, replace the booster, a 1 hour job if you are a small guy. If you aren't it may take longer. A 12" extension with a 1/2" semi deep socket with a universal joint does the job. You don't have to disconnect the master cylinder brake lines.
