After watching the way that Matt Hughes overpowered and worked circles around Royce Gracie on the mat a couple of years back, I have no doubt in my mind that Gracie wouldn't stand a ghost of a chance against a Monster like Lesnar. Brocks uncanny size and strength are only a couple of the major advantages he’s got over EVERYONE ELSE in the sport, but his speed and conditioning also rivals that of many of the lightweights of today….not to mention his ability to take/throw a punch…or kick…or whatever?

Lesnars fighting ability is quite frankly movie like. Every time I see him hit someone, I get a flashback of that line in Rocky IV where Ivan Drago’s trainer states “Whatever hit hits, he destroys!!!!” This statement has never held truer with anyone else in the sport. Even a glancing punch from this guy hits like a sledge hammer as we’ve seen now with both Mir and Couture. There are good strikers and strong fighters who are known for it and rely heavily on these attributes, but where their punching ability, strength or whatever is rated a 7 or an 8 out of 10 and their other area’s may be weaker, Lesnar scores a solid 10 with a punch, 10 with his wrestling, 10 with his strength, 10 with his speed, 10 with his durability. There may be room for improvement on his ground game and even a little on his Jujitsu, but everything else seems as close to perfect as you’ll get.

As far as Gracie goes…..remember....a HUGE portion dare I say the majority of Gracie’s ground game revolved around his ability to use his Judogi as the basis for so many of his submission moves and holds. Since there use is no longer allowed in the sport, he's lost that massive advantage (tool) he used to have and his limitations are quickly realized.

very well put, Brian. I have followed since UFC 1.

This guy is as intimidating as they come. Sure, he got tapped out with a leg/ankle lock by Mir, but he proved himself the next fight.

I'm not a huge supporter of the guy, but this guy draws fans to MMA, regardless of what anybody thinks of him. It will be a big blow to the heavyweight division if this guy is out.

Good point....I forgot all about that. The sport sure has changed an awful lot since those days. Now I want to go back and have a UFC marathon starting with UFC 1!

I think this is a good point. He sells PPV's and draws fans. Regardless of everyone's opinions against the fake wrestling world it has a HUGE fallowing. His successful transition is nothing but a positive for MMA :nice:

I'm watching Dana White live right now on ESPN. Brock Lesnar has been released from the hospital after 12 days and undergoing minor surgery for a intestinal bacterial disease.

He is going home and then will be sent to the Mayo(sp) clinic for further test. White stressed that he is not out of the woods, and might have to undergo more operations. Dana said that is future is in jeopardy, and they don't know if he will ever fight again, right now.

he also had the H1N1 virust too. I can see the ufc stripping him of his title then making a big deal when lesnars cleared to fight again.
