Has anyone ever had this happen? Yeah...maybe, but have you also NOT bent the push rod when it happened?
I got my coupe out today after a long time sitting in the garage, romped on it one good time (8k+) and I almost thought the engine let go...started running really rough and shaking, but no smoke anywhere, no leaking oil etc.
I got home and pulled the valve covers and one of the rocker studs on the driver's side snapped off down in the holes at the threads. I haven't done any serious testing but just by rolling the push rod it appears to be straight (I know I need a more scientific measurement than that) which baffles me. I usually see and hear of the push rod bending way before the stud breaks...and this was an ARP rocker stud to boot.
Anyway, I plan on getting the threads out of the hole and throwing another stud in there and firing it up to see what it sounds like. I feel pretty confident that nothing else is hurt, but I'm still crossing my fingers.
