What's preventing us from going with a GT500 clutch setup? The OEM GT500 clutch is supposed to be a dual-disc or some other design that can hold up to more torque. Tremec's website shows the 3650 as being rated just about as much as our engines make, so I'd probably consider a 6060 if you want to push out more ponies with the powerplant. The Viper, Vette, GT500, Challenger SRT-8, and Camaro LS3 (I think it is the LS3, whichever makes 420 hp out of the V8) all have the TR-6060.
I went with the SPEC Stage 2+ and SPEC steel flywheel. Didn't change the TOB but wish i had. Didn't know then what i know now. original shredded one...and what replaced it.
Oh I would go with the same SPEC clutch and flywheel, but I would make sure I would replace the throwout bearing with a RAM or Mcleod Hydraulic piece. Its extremely more durable than the OEM piece and allows your shifter to feel like OEM. Without it, its really really notchy.
clutchless and clueless is this still the best stock replacement for the forced induction crowd? My MagnaCharger made short work of my stock clutch and I am looking for something with street manners and a nasty streak for the strip, also the light weight flywheel, will that help me get my car out of the hole sitting at the lights? I can't seem to find that magic mark where the car launches down the track, she either stumbles coming out the blocks or lights up the rubbers like we are still in the waterbox.... Any help would be great
while i cannot comment on the best setup, or whats best for you there are two basic theories for racing. a lightweight flywheel will allow you to rev faster thru the gears. a heavy flywheel will "store" more energy for your launch and helps heavier cars move out of the hole.
