Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum so forgive me already haha But I've owned a 93 Probe GT since I was 16, then moved to a 93 SHO a half a year ago, and finally want the mustang I always wanted. It has to be a convertible.

I don't have the biggest budget in the world but I'm looking at at or around $10k, within a few grand of that. I've looked at 2001-02 Convertibles, base models. I just don't think I can afford the price tag/insurance of a GT, even though that's what a want

Anyways, is there much of a difference between the 99-2004 model years? Were they all carry-overs? Did hp #'s change at all or anykind of big changes worth mentioning? All I know is I want a 99-2004 Mustang Convertible with 30-40k miles on it. Just want to know that sweet sweet good year ;-)

The biggest change is starting in 2001 they gained the smoked headlights, fake side scoops and huge fake hood intake. The spoiler was different than the 1999-2000 one. Different wheels, of course. Not any change in power from 1999 to 2004. If you go for 1999-2000, you should be able to get a decent GT for around $10,000. If you want a 2001-2004, probably going to have to settle on a V6.

I'm confused...I was expecting a thread about '05-'06 'verts...

Either way...I do think someone mentioned not being able to get a Premium Package(leather, 16" rims, Mach 460/1000, leather wrapped steering wheel) 'vert without getting an auto.

My friend got an '01 GT w/ 60k for $9,xxx a few months ago.

BTW, 99-04 V6's are basically the same.

Headlights:
Clear [99-00]
Smoked [01-04]

Hood:
Forward facing 'flush' scoop [99-02]
Reverse scoop (same as 99/01 Cobra)[03-04]
Forward facing Add-on scoop (same as '01+ GT)[Pony Package V6]

Wheels:
15" 3-spoke "triangles" (same as pre-99's)[early 99's]
15" 3-spoke "bi-spokes" [99-00]
16" 5-spoke w/ machined finish [00+]
16" 5-spoke w/ satin finish [01+]
16" 5-spoke w/ Chrome finish [Pony Package]

Those are the basic differences between the years. The other differences would be color choices (breakdown by year @ http://www.yellowmustangregistry.com), spoilers (hard to describe the difference between 99-00 and 01+, slight interior differences (center console, stereo, etc), and virtually insignificant mechanical differences (IMRC's for 01+ [+3hp] and 3.9L V6 for '04 [officially, +0hp].

Good luck finding yourself a Mustang... hope this helps. :)

Oh, and anyone can feel free to correct anything wrong... this was just off the top of my head.
