C4: Hesitation When Shifting Into 3rd?

Discussion in 'Classic Mustang Specific Tech' started by Cook89Notch, Apr 10, 2014.

  1. 69 302 2v C4:

Shifts great at light throttle or wide open but at 50%-75% there's a slight hesitation before it shifts.

    Any ideas as to why?

    TIA, Matt
  2. Possibly the passing gear out of adjustment
  3. Maybe you dont pull enough vacuum at that throttle range?
  4. Do you mean the kickdown linkage?
  5. Hmmm, not a bad theory.... You're talking about the vacuum on the modulator, right?
  6. Thats right, its just a thought but it seems logical.
  7. Well, guess I have some fiddling to do...
  8. Fluid level? Color? Smell?
  9. Level, color and smell are good..
  10. Does it have a shift kit installed at all?
  11. The previous owner said he put one in but it's "mild"...
