Cam Shaft Sensor Problems

I replaced my cam shaft sensor and the car ran great eliminated the code then I test drove it and got a little hard on the throttle and it pulled the code back up and started jerking like before I changes it is there a break in period for the sensors or is there a bigger problem I need to look for

I just did the same thing today. Then I got to researching it and am finding out its the alternator going out! Some how, they are saying it throws the cam sensor code but is actually the alternator.
