Came across a nice young guy last night in a Camaro SS (don't know what year) and we ran each other twice...First time I had the drop I guess, beating him to 2nd, then he pulls me by the length of his car, and I don't start catching up until almost 90 mph! Second time I got a little carried away and smoked the tires through most of first as he hooked up and got me by a car length and kept his lead, again pulling on me through 2nd. After the first run he says out the window..."That was fun...I thought those thing were pretty fast"...he said he had done a few things to his Camaro...usual streeter speak, have no idea what mods he'd had done. What do these Camaros run anyway? LS-1 with bolt ons maybe? My Cobra is basically stock, with 3:73s, K&N element and catted H w/ Delta 40s. Damn, I hate looking at taillights!
Those SS's can be deadly - they got great torque in all the right places. No big deal though - least you didnt lose to an import! peace
Bolt-on SS's run low 13's to high 12's around here...their 3rd gear is mean on their manual trannies...They come with about 300-305rwhp stock...
Yea, after studying up on them a little mor...I'm probably lucky he hit the rev limiter 3 times and didnt just walk away from me. Thanks guys!
Good thing you can stick with him though. He has rwhp what you have at the flywheel stock. Not bad considering the cubic inches he has.
I had a friend with a stock one .. other than his nittos that was running down the track at the same times I was.. Pissed me off cause we'd be neck and neck all the way down the track. Few bolt ones and a retune and they're seeing over 400 to the wheels pretty easy. Sick cars.. especially top end.
Trust me, you have nothing to worry about with your '04 Cobra. Exhaust, intake, and a simple pulley swap and you will be destroying z06's.
I know, but the 'Vettes and the Camaros aren't really the enemy to me... The true enemy is the weed-wacker import...they all require education as to their true place on the automotive food chain. My mission is to educate them...one at a time...
