I've heard on different boards that you dont get much of a lope w/ straight through mufflers like maganflows or the like. I dont quite have magnapacks, more of a 4-5" diameter 14" long straight throughs by maganflow that resemble magnapacks size and sound. I've looked at cammed GT clips but almost all are w/ chambered mufflers. Can anyone confirm this? Really curious more than anything else cuz im sure not getting cams for the sound.
A chambered muffler will minimize horsepower gains by restricting exhaust flow. If you do your cam swap and don't like the sound, just swap out the current mufflers with some borlas, or other straight through mufflers that tend to have a different tone than the ones you got!
I doubt that i won't like the sound, but due to the design of my exhaust there arn't very many mufflers that will work for fitting. I would need a muffler that's 14" (pretty sure, still need to measure) long and quite slim and narrow (other muffler is rather close side by side). So if it turns out i don't like the sound, it looks like you're right in me needing to search for some other straight throughs since im pretty sure that's all that will fit. Borla and Bassani most likely, both pretty expensive.
I have patriot performance cams with straight through mufflers.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDr9lxWtiuw
This one has SLP Loudmouth 1s and sounds sick with VT stage II http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZa3IRr6nqc
arn't single chamber still cambered aka not straight through? Also found this, has magnapacks and sure doesnn't lose its lope: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB53GQoUmmo
Its true, chamber mufflers resonate the sound which makes it sound better. Here is mine with the Magnaflows with Mac long tubes. My mustang
i suppose that sounds deeper, but i haven't been shown that straight throughs have less lope. The lope just is at a different pitch.
I think what they mean by "less" lope is that it isnt as clear as it would be with a chamber exhaust. Now if you had a fully stainless exhaust system with chambered mufflers, you could really hear it chugg.
