My mass air meter came w/ an inlet tube and the hose connectors (blue) - The inlet fits to my TB and also to my MAF, HOWEVER coming from my MAF to my air filter is a random pipe that came off of the CAI that the previous owner installed - it is a totally differnet size, and I could not find a hose to fit - so I got a hose to fit over the smaller pipe, and shoved the smaller hose into the MAF and it kind of fit, but the hose is inside the MAF not wrapped around it if you know what i mean - I think i might have a crappy pic - but anyway - can this be hurting the performance?? Everynow and then the hose pops out a little bit, and the intake pops a little bit until i stuff it back in - i know it's not smart to keep it like this, but i either need a new CAI pipe, or a hose that steps up -

Paul car looks great! you'll be fine just waiting it out untill you can get your hands on a better CAI thats fits, or even the stock section though not as pretty could be modded to fix with the C&l..but for now just try to keep it tight as possible. I'm still curious about an earlier post where you stated your using 2 quarts of oil in very few miles...any news on that?

You'll probably be ok temporarily -- but you're gonna want to fix that in the long run. Not only does it reduce the cross-sectional area leading into the maf, it also presents a blunt obstacle to flow --- the thickness of the rubber around the entire circumference of the meter. It may disrupt airflow enough to throw the meter off a bit -- drive it and see.

But I wouldn't work it really hard until you get a bigger inlet pipe to match up with the inlet of the meter. Looks to me like it's probably 3.5" --- I used mandrel bent exhaust ells from Walker Exhaust components on mine. Exact size of the ProM inlet.

How's it seem to be running with that C&L? A lot of people have problems with those....

drew lol stop posting in my threads lol

ANY WAY - Yea, i needed to get the car running, n didn't have the rest of the CAI - the C&L is ok i guess, how the hell do I know, the car runs fine, occasional Idle fluctuate, but other than that, car runs like a top - when i get on it, the car kind of bogs out when i shift hard into second, or when i'm in a gear cruising and just MASH it to the floor, it will bog before it gets up and goes, i was wondering if this could be the cause

Hard to say...did you get the TPS set at the indicated voltage..that would be something I would want to look at. Not to be the bad guy, but I've heard many a not nice story about the C&L meters and how they enjoy causing issues...IF it were me I'd save for the PRO-m meter...but I may be completely wrong and the C&l could be a complete non issue and working like a top. As stated earlier, once you get the code reader on there you likely get a better idea of whats what...good luck man and enjoy.

Damn Paul I wish I could answer that...do some searches on here and Corral. There have been too many threads from people who have solved significant issues by going to the PROm meters from the C&L. Now I wounder if your meter is a little cranky due to the less than perfect seal your getting from your makeshift CAI..see what happens when the stock box is used if possible. Also should note I have SEEN your style CAI's affect A/f ratios because of the air turbulence from the bend. I don't blame the CAI for that particular situation...rather I blame a meter that's a little to sensitive to the conditions. I don't know what to say, exept maybe try to get a better seal, get the codes, ensure the TPS is right..if all else fails then I say definately go for the PRO-m meter, it has treated me very very well.

With an efi system that's running properly, there shouldn't be any bog or hesitation at all. Cold, hot, anytime -- it ought to do nothing but accelerate when you step on the gas.

I see the meter sensitivity issue differently than DMAN. ProM would calibrate a meter differently for the stock air box, for a conical on the end of the meter, for a cold air set up with an elbow in front of the meter. That's because the way the flow hits the meter is different in all 3 cases. You begin to see how especially buying used meters isn't just a plug and play operation. The C&L's only have a provision for injector size -- so you can see how anything that alters how the air might hit the hot wire can throw things off.

The irony is that adjusting for injector size by altering the flow around the wire (C&L) or by altering the meter electronics (ProM) simply isn't the best way anyhow. The best way is to obtain the actual transfer function of the meter (for Ford meters like the Lightning units, or the smaller SN95 or Cobra units) -- and use a chip to input that transfer function into the ecu. That way you have a perfect match. You also use the chip to select the injector size you're running -- and let the ecu adjust for the different injectors.

Folks who do that almost always report perfect drivability - within the limits of their combo of course.

hot damn ill get pics and post up tomorrow blatch. Oh and all my hoses are the right size also. The only thing you could get me on is my silicone connectors arent all blue. I have one yellow. woo they are in the mail and itll be fixed by next week.

I mean, you have some bolt on chrome pieces, a big yellow battery. Stock clutch fan. What do you really have that is original? nothing. What real modification have you done to your engine bay that you cant buy in a magazine? nothing. I took the time to hide my wires, make alum sheetmetal plates for each side of the engine bay. Hell I even made a custom bracket using a heim joint from a mid 80's jag and rigged up a custom bracket to mount my alt down low. You didnt even paint the undersize of your hood.....arent you a painter by trade?
I'm not saying my bay is the **** by any means, there are muchh nicer bays on here easily. Let not even get started on my all black interior upgrade and 87-93 dash conversion with new harnesses throughout.

the customization war is on..... haha

Hey pal, **** you, you don't post in my threads like this - i asked for help, not for a jerk off to blab about his accomplishments, i could care less about ur engine bay or ur yellow hose - thats nice, i bet your still a virgin dude - but anyway - thanks to the guys that actually gave me some useful information - and taking things seriously -

and btw, i never said anything was "custom" I just put on bolt ons - everyone on here that reads n posts in my threads knows i don't brag or boast, they know when they post a paint thread, i am usually in there if i see it aiding w/ their problems, as are the guys that help me in my stupid threads, but where I come from, ppl get hurt talkin like that - I am not on here for fun most of the time - i'm on here because ppl help me, and I know I can help People -
