Hi; this question has probably been asked a million times but i couldn't find a thread referencing it exactly.

I have stock 18" fan blade rims on my 09 GT; from what i have seen these rims are 8.5" wide; i have the stock 235/50/ZR18 tires on them. i would like to get some new bullit rims but most of them (the cheaper ones) are 9" wide.

i really don't want to buy new tires right now, and i was wondering if anybody knew whether it would be possible to use my old tires on a new 9" rim. I also do not want to go with a narrower wheel, like an 8" wide wheel. thanks.

They should be okay. But just to be safe - go to the tire manufacturers website (or tirerack.com) and look at the "rim width range" for your particular tire.

ok, thanks. seems like a half inch shouldn't make that much difference, but 235s may be a little narrow to begin with for 8.5" rims. i'll see what tirerack says.
