I want to get a beater, but have no money for one. I dont need one till march, so it gives me some time, but either way, I dont have 2k. If I could find a DD, i would gadly keep my car in my garage if I could find a way to afford it. The main problem comes from moving out and paying rent at the same time. If I cound some how "find" 2k, I would be set.. but I dont see that happening.
what about selling the blower like me and the other guy said? that could net u 2k with the right buyer. then take the insurance off the car and keep it garaged and you should be straight.
I just realized that I might have an extra 1800 dollars comming to me from student loans. I have to wait a little to see. But either way Ill have to wait untill I can finish my car. Anyone want to volunteer some time to an engine swap??? its alot of fun!
i think the blower idea is your best bet. sell the blower for the cost of a DD. drop your insurance and garage the stang. move out. computer programmer right? if you know web languages, check out craigslist there is usually misc. small web jobs on there for money. look into stuff like that.
if it was summer, or even spring or fall, i would drive my stang out to help with an engine swap. but i had to bite the bullet and get a daily driver pos chebby, i dont like to drive too far from home now
Would anyone be interested in buying the car for 7K? It would be in its current condition, meaning no tune, and I dont even want to start it without it being tuned (im afraid to blow the motor up). Im currently stuck at school for a month or so, but after that, I could get rid of it anytime. Anyone lol??
I just moved out on my own and i still have my Mustang and my daily driver, daily driver was a gift from my dad so i dont owe on it but i owe 600 on my car and im still makin it okay... i just leave the mtang at my dads in the garage and i go and switch cars when i get the urge. And like i said i live on my own completely in my apartment, no one to split the bills with, and im goin to school this fall full time to be an RN, so you might be surprised it might work out for you to keep your car.
Here's a thought. Make a deal with your folks, or some other relative with a few extra bags of cash lying around. Here's how it works. You "pawn" it to them. By that I mean they pay you for it, but something less than full value (like a pawn broker). Then they hold the car for you - or more likely you pay to park it somewhere safe. Then a few years later when you are better established, you buy it out (add some interest to make it fair). Best of both worlds. You get the cash you need now, and put the car up on blocks for a while so you are not tempted to keep modding it. And later on you wont be kicking yourself for selling your Mustang. Seriously, 10 years down the road selling could feel like shortsighted move.
stangnet needs to band together and start a "save the mustang owners fund"!!! I feel so bad when someone has to sell a car they have put so much into. With that h/c/i + blower i bet it's soo much fun. If everyone put in a 1.00$, he'd have 2 grand. haha
