Car starts fine, waits a moment, then cuts out real hard and dies....

Engine is an 85 non roller HO with edelbrock 600 cfm carb. What would be causing the car to start up fine but when i put it in drive it cuts out really bad for a few secs and then dies? Any help would be great.

5 spd or auto you said you put in "Drive"? and it dies, check you tv cable This is way off but check everything, vacume leaks.........

Update. Went under hood and wiggled random wires and different things. Car ran ok, drove around a few blocks fine but once i reached my house it still had a pretty apparent miss every few seconds. I am going to pull all of the wires and plugs etc and make sure they are clean. Car is an auto ex CFI car.
