Changing Coolant & Auto Tranny Fluid

My '00 GT is getting close to the 40K mark, so I figured I should get some fresh juices flowing all the way around when it gets ungaraged next Spring.

I was going to have the coolant system flushed and replaced and the transmission fluid drained and replaced. A couple questions, is there anything I need to make sure the shop does as far as what fluids to use, etc.? Also, should I replaced the auto tranny filter now or does it not need it yet? Finally, should I replace the fuel filter yet? I know what the book says, but they always understate everything hoping you will bring it back to the dealer so they make more money.

If i was you i would go ahead and do the fuel filter also. i dont know if you need to do the transmission fluid. Dont let a shop do it changing the coolant is very easy. The fuel filter is also very easy!

Yes changing the fuel filter is very easy, but you will need the 10 dollar plastic ring "tool" for disconnecting the fuel line from the filter. Needed the tool for my '99, not sure if the '98s needed it.

Change the fuel filter every 15,000 miles. Cheap preventative maintenance.
