Cleaning Sludge from radiator

Anyone know a good effective way to clean sludge out of the radiator. Im not sure exactly what it is. Its coated the walls of the radiator and i can drag my finger thru it and pull out a finger full. I know my overflow bottle has oil it in so that could be it, but it just doesnt look quite like oil. It almost feels like it could be stop leak or somethin. Anyways, I want to fix whatever is causing oil to get into the coolant, and then flush/clean out the radiator/cooling system. Anyone know a good way to get the sludge out?

Mine has the same stuff. It's not oil, but it looks like oil. Run a water hose through it?

straight water woudlnt take it out im sure. Its nasty stuff, and its pretty thick against the walls of the side tanks. Im suprised water even flows thru the passages.

Maybe time for a new radiator?

Yea, I want to upgrade the radiator, but even if I do... Im sure that crap is all over inside the water jackets and stuff... so it still needs to be cleaned out

some prestone radiator flush did the trick for me! That stuff works some magic. You can get it at walmart or any autoparts store.

how bad was yours caked? or did you do it more as a preventitive thing? Im tellin ya, mine is so caked, i can drag my finger up the side and pull out a pretty good clump of fecal matter

you may just have to run it through twice or three times. i used in it the car i sold and it was enough to notice. cleaned it out and it worked pretty damn good!~

yeah, that prestone stuff works....or if you can get hold of a product from Wynns. it works really good. i used to do the flush where i worked....its awesome.
