Ok, just installed a 140 cluster in my car. Only issue is it don't seem to zero out. Instead of resting on the stop, it's about where 5mph would be. Anything I can do about this before I finish it up?

If it matters- 88 gt with a 89 140 cluster. I can pull parts from the busted 85 if needed.

See that little white tick mark under the 0 MPH?

Pull the speedo stop pin, and also remove the needle. Adjust the needle so that when the speedo is at rest, it points to this tick mark, not 0 mph. Then lift the needle up and install the stop.

Do this with the speedo at an angle similar to what it would be installed, not laying down.

This gets you close, but maybe not 100% perfect. If you want perfect, it's a bit more involved and usually required the use of a speedo shop.

Of course this all assumes nothing mechanically weong with that speedo

yes- the white mark below the 0,. to remove the needle, slide a small needle nose behind the needle and wiggle or pry it off. doesnt take much effort. They actuall make a little mini pry bar for removing them which I have.
