Clutch pedal question

What does it mean when you depress the clutch pedal and it somewhat groans and you can feel some type of rubbing while pressing it down. It's been fine, and was good last time the tranny was out (300 miles ago). I was going to put it on my trailer and noticed it when I depressed the clutch to crank it. It was fine two days ago........ It's on the 86 Capri.

do you have an aftermarket cable or anything on it? my stock cable the rubber that sits in the firewall where the aftermarket adjuster goes, got soft or something and caused the cable to start rubbing on the firewall and ended up breaking. See it happen on a few other before to.
