Hey everyone, I'm in the process of removing my upper and lower intake and figure I might as well upgrade them. I'm thinking about a Cobra intake, I can get for about $300, new. I'm guessing it is the same height as a stock 5.0 intake. The reason I ask this is because I have a functional 1.5" ram air hood, and it makes it the same height as a stock hood...or so I assume. I have two scratch marks from the engine tourqing on the functional kit of the hood from the stock intake. The marks might not be from the intake, might be from me I'm not sure. I plan on either going 331/347 or kb later on around this fall. I'm wonding is the Cobra intake will support this combo? I've heard the Cobra intake is good for about high 300 hp. Should I invest in a better intake? The car is a DD in the summer.
Oh, if I go 331 I'll get AFR 185s, maybe a B cam. I think my new exhaust will be suffiecent for the car either way. Also, I know the vac lines are a little different on the Cobra, what kind of problems can I run into? Can I swap everything else over to the Cobra from the stock intake?
This doesn't exactly answer your question. I have a shaker so i needed an intake that was similiar to stock. I just put on my explorer intake and everything is just fine. The explorer is very similiar to the cobra so i bet you will be fine.
I'm going to try and get a Performer intake tomorrow. Hopefully that will fit. It would seem like it...
