a friend of mine is selling me his fully ported cobra upper and lower intake just wondering how much more power i can get out of it compared to my stock gt-40 tubular
honestly man, it'd be just like porting your current gt40 (if it were possible). porting it isn't going to get you 25-30hp. it'd be more along the lines of 10-15rwhp, maybe 20. like mavmavv said, it'll definitely suit your combo better though. get in contact with tmoss, he's pretty much head guru on intake porting.
if they're both stock, then you wont see any change. if the cobra upper is ported (which is a TON of work to do properly) but if you don't use a port matched lower, you'll run into airflow problems where the upper meets the lower.
You could probably spend that $300 a little better. If your intake is holding you back, you should consider something a little beefier like an Edelbrock RPM II or invest the money in another aspect of the car. Those tubular GT-40 intakes aren't sold anymore and are a hot commodity. Plus they are one of the nicest looking intakes for our foxes. IMHO stick with what you've got, its not worth buying.
i will more than likely just keep the ported lower intake with my tubular intake and sale the ported cobra upper with stock lower . i like the tubular better.
decided to go with gt- 40 tubular upper intake with the ported lower intake at least i will get a better top end on it. I'm going to :Track: to see what it does.
