Well............... I've been waiting for months for the new COD MW2 to come out for PC. I recently bought a used PS3 for a decent price and was enjoying it quite nicely up until last night. I went to the local video game store and purchased (after waiting in line forever) my new copy of COD. The clerk convinces me that PS3 version will be better than the PC. I drive 40 minutes home, pop the game into the console just to have it say - needs update, installing now. I think "ok great this is just like a PC it needs to upgrade itself and I'll be playing in no time." Well I guess I was wrong. For what ever reason, my system will only load thesystem update to 56% before it crashes with a long error something like 800F1F9. Well without panicking I try finding a solution online. After trying all recommended ideas I still can't get it to do thing but the sytem update. I call Sony. Wow what a waste of time. After a brief troubleshooting session, their way to fix this all too common problem (even though the rep won't admit it} is to ship my PS3 to them and they will charge me $169 plus taxes and shipping. Now I'm not that great at math but I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that isn't far off the cost of a brand new system with a warranty for 299. So I tell them politely to pound sand. I drove 40 minutes back to the game store and begged the clerk to exchange my PS3 game for the PC game which they reluctantly decided to do. I drove 40 minutes back home and then I was gaming heaven. The game kicks ass. However I now have a PS3 as a boat anchor. SONY= Anyone else enjoying the game???
That sucks. Ive been lucky with my xbox and havent hadd red ring of death or anything. I dont have cod yet but ill pick it up soon.
After begging me to no end i agreed to get it for my 10 year old son this friday lol i gotta admit i sit there and watch him kick some ass playing call of duty and uncharted II online against the world i cant believe it buts its better than most of whats on tv, looks cool as hell on my 65 inch DLP
I still cant bring myself to allow a gaming system into my house. as soon as I do I know I will be a slave to it..... no work on teh house, no work on teh mootang, no sexors with teh wife.....might as well wrap the power chord around my neck and hang me with it.
TELL me you turned the gore level down on that before you gave it to your son, I've heard that the game is absolutely brutal. Something about killing 300 innocents at an airport?
your the second person ive ever heard of having a problem with a ps3. i picked my copy up at midnight when it came out along with 450 or so other people and im pretty sure im about halfway through the campaign and level 3 on multiplayer. i wanted to beat campaign by now but i had an exam and a quiz the day after it came out. amazing game. glad they realzied people love this game and that they responded by making bigger maps, and more intracate story lines. if you want my illegal advice go buy a ps3 from wallmart and return the one that doesent work. not our fault that they dont check to see if they work fine. people i know did this with xboxes, but they scanned the case ofthe xbox so they had to switch cases. i made the shift from pc gaming to my ps3 and i thank myself for it every day. gamestops sell refurb ps3s for about 250 i believe. either way there a way better buy than an xbox.
that sounds like COD MW2 your talking about he doesnt have it yet and no i wont touch the gore level he a real mature and good kid he looks at it like a game, he plays PS3 online with alot of his freinds with their sony bluetooth on and its funny cause if u listen to the ten year olds they sound like a bunch of mature service men plotting their game no cursing just strong knowdledge of the weaponry. Then i'll see my son take his bluetooth off and i'll ask him whats wrong he tells me theres some adults screwing around cursing their heads off LMAO!!!
nothing bad on xbox. just doesent seem like youd want to buy an xbox, then xbox live, then a wifi thingy if you wanna do it wifi, then after all that you still dont have a blu ray player. and ive always heard xboxes are 48 percent failure rates for the red ring. it was just easier for me to get my ps3
Really, I bought my XBOX for Halo, so I'm just going to coast on that for a while. Everybody praises the PS3 for the Blu Ray thing, but IMHO, by the time Blu Ray discs come down in price enough for me to justify buying them, Blu Ray players will be 50$ a pop, and it won't matter that my XBOX (which was something like 100$ cheaper than a PS3 at the time) can't play them. Both machines still have the same capabilities in terms of gaming graphics, which is all that I'm worried about. The red light thing was supposedly fixed in the new 360s, too. I've fixed a red light 360 with maybe 12$ worth of parts, so if you know what you are doing, the red light really isn't much of an issue. The 100$ wireless add-on so far is the only thing that really had me pissed off with the 360, and that wouldn't have been an issue if I could have put my TV near a Ethernet connection.
i dont know about the graphics difference between PS3 and XBOX360, what i do know is theres a monthly charge i think around 20 bucks for XBOX and PS3 there is none, i also know the PS3 plays blue ray movies on my 65 inch DLP as good as any blue ray player if not better and movies in blue ray look amazing. My son uses his PS3 as if we had another pc he goes online does anything a pc can do, playstation has and amazing browser that comes free which he downloads PS3 beta games etc. that are almost a third of the game atleast enough where u know whether u want to buy the game, he signs on PS3 browser and sees what freinds are playing what games then joins in from there its amazing. I think its a no brainer but different strokes for different folks
I doubt the game ruined your PS3, if it had been another game you put in i'm sure it would have done the same thing.Just a coincidence imo. I have the game on PC and dayyum....me likes.
yeah blu rays are expensive, and my friend fixes xboxes too, i might be fixing my friends here in a few weeks. its not hard, especially with that site that gives you part numbers, and drawer numbers for the parts. i got my ps3 as a xmas gift, and i knew i wouldnt keep putting money into it (fixing it, getting xbox live) so i decided to just take it all out in one sweep, plus i had a ps1 and ps2 and was a fan of those. different strokes indeed.
yeah I've been playin like crazy on linbe with my PC, as the store was nice to exchange it. The airport level is a bit "horrific." My PS3 is screwed. I took it to some electronics guy that mods consoles and repairs them. He scratched his head and said "I've never seen that before" Oh well. I still have the PC.....
