well, Got the engine up and running, and had the cams installed correctly, and the lash adjusters sound like they are loose (ticking). The engine is a houston performance modular 302 forged stroker with dished pistons, and 9:1 compression. Heads are 2001 patriot stage 2. I also noticed my car is burning oil. I might have piston to valve contact. Technically, these cams should operate without piston contact. I called comp cams, and they said if the cams were bought 2 years ago, the base circle could be off. Is there a way to check to see if I have piston to valve contact with out pulling the head? The motor N/A put down 300hp 330TQ at the wheels with a tune from T+J performance in atlanta. Anyone heard of these problems???
do a compression test, if there was piston to valve contact, then your engine will have low compression on all or most cylinders. also do a leakdown test. if there was contact, the valves wont seat properly and air will escape through the intake or exhaust.
So I have heard. That is what I am trying to figure out. If the problem is the heads or cams. I'm goin nuts over here. If one more person That hears my car tells me that my cars valves need adjusted, I am gonna snap!
