I'm trading in my purchased new, 10 years ago, T-3550 with about $7000 miles on it against a rebuilt T-5Z used in a 93 SVT Cobra. The T-5z is a 93 Cobra T-5 with 2.95 first gear set and .63 over drive. It has the best of everything. Hardened gears, short throw shifter, steel front bearing retainer, and tapered output shaft bearing.

I think that the T-3550 is still worth more than the T-5Z but how much more?

I'd say the 3550 is worth at least a grand more than the T5. You can find T5's all day for $3-500, but not low mileage 3550's. I see your list of reasons in the other thread, but I assure you the 3550 isn't overkilll. I don't know if you plan on any hard driving with your 65, but one hard 1-2 or 2-3 shift is all it takes and that T5 will sound like you threw a handfull of rocks into a coffee can and started shaking it. I've unfortunately done it more times than I'd like to admit with a stock engine.
