Ok, my friend has a 1989 Cougar LS with the 3.8 V6 and i was wondering if anybody knew if this was the same engine thats in the 94-? mustangs? and does anybody know if it'll swap in a 93?

yup, same engine. There are many variations, but it is the same basic engine as found in the 94-98 mustangs.
Your thinking about swapping it into a 93 mustang? Should work fine. Just use the cougars EEC so you don't have to mess with swapping to OBD II.
I am unsure of engine mounts, but you could always grab some from a 79-86 3.8l V6. I know there are a few of those out there.
